Icom IC-M412 VHF Marine Radio

This is an Icom IC-M412 - VHF Marine band radio.

Very popular with boat users in the US, it's fitted with Canadian and International channels too - and this version has access to the common 37A and M2/P4 channels used here in the UK.

I think the reason it is popular because it's simple. Volume and squelch knob, and channel up down switches are easy to work, and the clever stuff in the menu doesn;t get in the way. The red flap conceals and emergency number - if you have programmed in your MMSI, then details of you get sent to coastguard and other users in an emergency.

The IC-M412 is a powerful 25 watt VHF radio that is submersible up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. The supplied hand microphone is also submersible. The IC-M412 also offers AquaQuake, a feature that uses a vibrating sound to help remove water from the speaker grill. These features alone make the IC-M412 a great choice for use in marine environments.

A solid, dependable VHF marine radio. Small in size but with easy access buttons to ch 16, and a simple up/down channel change. Favourite channels can be added to the memory and then the radio will scan them, stopping on activity.

OFCOM will provide MMSI numbers included with the current free marine licence - so in an emergency, your details can be provided to the emergency services.

Has International channels, plus US and Canada if required.
